East Midlands Horror Events

8 11 2011

The man behind Alt. Fiction, Alex Davis checks in to tell readers about two fantastic events this month.

This November sees two great events for horror fans taking place in the East Midlands, giving you the choice to join us for a haunted breakfast or spend some time exploring the work of one of horror’s masters.

On 14 November, Nottingham Broadway kicks off its new film course, ‘The Cinema of Stephen King’. Over five sessions we’ll be looking at a selection of the films inspired by one of horror’s most iconic authors, including many well-loved features as well as some lesser-known classics. Exploring three movies on a different theme each week, including ‘The Shining’, ‘Misery’, ‘Carrie’, ‘The Dead Zone’, ‘Children of the Corn’, ‘Pet Sematary’ and many more, this is a course ideal for fans of horror movies and Stephen King readers both new and old. Tickets for the course are £35 (£25 concessions) and can be booked from the Broadway website or from Broadway Box Office on 0115 9526 611.

Later that month, on the morning of 26 November, horror author Niki Valentine will be at The Wonky Table in Derby for ‘Read and Breakfast’. This unique event features a reading and Q+A with Niki, whose latest novel The Haunted is out from Sphere this halloween, followed by a delicious breakfast for an ideal way to start the weekend. Tickets for the event are just £10 including breakfast, and further details are available at the SFF East Midlands Blog or from Alex.

So if you’re around the East Midlands this month, and you have a penchant for horror, come and join us for either or both of these events!
