Read Horror exists to spread awareness of both new and well-established horror authors. We take horror seriously and treat it with the respect it deserves. We are an inclusive brand and showcase a wide spectrum of horror authors including Gary McMahon, Adam Nevill, David Moody, Wayne Simmons, Laird Barron and Stephen Graham Jones.
Read Horror formed in response to the need for horror fiction coverage. Unfortunately it is often brushed aside in mainstream horror publications. Editor, Michael Wilson tried to readdress that balance in a new UK horror quarterly but the space allocated to fiction was less than the demand. Thus Read Horror was born, an upcoming horror fiction resource that has seen increased visitors and reputation since forming in early April. Recently, we welcomed onboard two new columnists – Spectral Press’ Simon Marshall-Jones and BC Furtney, author of Scarla and director/writer of New Terminal Hotel.
We exist and will continue to exist because we are passionate about horror. As, Abaddon and Solaris Books Editor-in-Chief, Jonathan Oliver said, “the best of horror writing is the best of writing period”.
MICHAEL WILSON
EDITOR
Love the last quote from Jonathan Oliver, “the best of horror writing is the best of writing period.” I do believe that a hundred years from now, certain well-known horror writers will be studied, as we study Shakespeare today!
